World Clean Up Day 2020

On Friday, 25th September 2020, Matrix Cooling (Malaysia) participated in World Cleanup Day, taking the afternoon to make our local environment and green spaces a little better.

World Cleanup Day is a multi-national civic movement that began in the northern European country of Estonia, in 2018 as a response to the global waste problem. Everyone from, governments, corporations, organisations, down the individual are encouraged to take part in clean-ups and to find solutions to tackle mismanaged waste. Currently, it unites 180 countries and millions of people, participants cleaning up environments from sunny beaches, urban forests to bustling city streets.

For our first participation, we decided to keep it very local – cleaning up our own Berjaya Park, in which the Matrix Cooling Headquarters is located. Given that is a space in which everyone spends a fair bit of their time, it is worth investing some time and energy to improve it’s appearance.

The afternoon event was attended by everyone who was present in the office on the day. With a good volunteer turn out, we split into teams of 4, set around the Park collected and segregating rubbish, which was then delivered to the recycling centre.

As a leading cooling tower solutions-provider in Southeast Asia, Matrix Cooling has been sharing our expertise for 17 years. As we look to further expand our presence, we know that it is important that we do so in a manner that is sustainable, and in-line with the demands of our planet. Thus, it is through initiatives such as this one whereby we can begin to increase our awareness, and take accountability for the environment.

Matrix Cooling would like to thank all our hardworking and amazing staff that volunteered their Friday afternoons, no less! As well as extend a special thanks to Anis who took all the photographs. We look forward to World Clean Up Day 2021.

The final collection was a whopping total of 30kg worth of rubbish, sorted into:
